Muzeum minerałów w Ahrntal
Muzeum minerałów w San Giovanni im Aurina narodziło się z wieloletniej pasji do minerałów. Rodzina Kirchlerów z czasem wyszukała i zebrała znaczną ich liczbę, czyniąc muzeum jednym z najważniejszych muzeów minerałów w Alpach Wschodnich.
W San Giovanni można podziwiać około 1000 pojedynczych eksponatów na 300 m² powierzchni wystawienniczej. Kolekcja obejmuje ponad 100 różnych minerałów, takich jak kwarc, skalenie i kamienie szlachetne, pochodzących z dolin Valle Aurina i Hohe Tauern.
Te wyjątkowe cuda natury powstały około 30 milionów lat temu wewnątrz skorupy ziemskiej pod wysokim ciśnieniem i w bardzo wysokich temperaturach. Odważni kolekcjonerzy odzyskują skarby Alp w czasami niebezpiecznych warunkach i w ten sposób ratują je przed zniszczeniem przez naturę.
Wśród szczególnych atrakcji muzeum minerałów w Valle Aurina znajdują się największe kryształy kwarcu dymnego w Południowym Tyrolu, oryginalne repliki alpejskich szczelin oraz piękna pieluszka z kryształu górskiego z kopalni w Predoi.
W sali multimedialnej odwiedzający dowiedzą się wszystkiego o pochodzeniu minerałów, sposobach poszukiwania i znajdowania tych skarbów oraz o ich właściwościach leczniczych. W przyległym sklepie można kupić minerały, biżuterię i pamiątki z Valle Aurina i z całego świata. Inną atrakcją jest pękanie geod. Muzeum jest również idealnym miejscem dla wycieczek autokarowych - duży parking znajduje się bezpośrednio przy głównej drodze.
